Our Services

I believe that therapy and counselling is about developing a relationship with you and your child or teenager. It is about working together to get to know you and the underlying problems, and working with you as real people, not just a set of symptoms. It is important to me that you and your child feel valued, safe and supported, as this is how therapy works best.  I will focus on getting to the core of the problem to help create real and lasting change. Together, we will find solutions that are right for your child or teenager and your family.  I draw on a range of psychological strategies and I am skilled at using play and talking to help children and adolescents express themselves. My consult room is set up to help you feel comfortable and has a range of toys, games and materials to facilitate this process.

I focus on genuinely supporting and including parents and carers in the therapy process; after all, you know your child or teenager best! I listen to parents and carers, provide regular feedback and offer advice and recommendations about how you can
support your child or teenager at home and school. It is my goal, that you, as the most important person in your child’s life, feel valued, heard and supported.  When appropriate, you will be invited to participate in therapy sessions with your child and at other times you might be asked to chat in private (and you are always welcome to request this yourself).  Sometimes you might find it enough to attend an appointment with me without
needing to engage your child or teenager in therapy. I find this is useful in helping parents to gain an understanding of what is going on for their child, and to develop strategies and skills for dealing with this. This can be particularly helpful if you are unsure about whether your child needs
therapy, or if they are refusing to attend an appointment.

Sometimes parents just want a space to talk through their worries for their child and be offered some support, ideas or guidance.  I am happy to offer this service to parents or independent adolescents.
